Association of Public Data Users
     Serves as a communication forum between federal government data producers and distributors and the users of the products. Many papers and presentations from the annual conference for the past several years. Online monthly newsletter accessible only to members,

Committee on Data for Science and Technology (CODATA)
     Member organizations promote topics related to quality, management, and delivery of research data in scientific discplines. Its peer-reviewed publication (Data Science Journal), proceedings from the biennial conference, and newsletter are available online.

Consortium of Social Science Associations
     An alliance of institutions representing the interests of social science researchers to the federal government. Advocates for research funding and informs its membership regarding public policy priorities of legislative and executive branches. Advises on government products that support social science research efforts.

Council of Professional Associations on Federal Statistics (COPAFS)
     Membership composed of organizations concerned with quality of federal statistlcal products and sharing information about their development and maintenance. The site presence is sparse but there are links to minutes of its quarterly meetings, selected conferences and methodology papers, and news items (much of the last of archival interest).

Data Documentation Initiative (DDI)
     An alliance of institutions dedicated to developing and promoting international metadata standards and supporting tools for description of social sciences data.

International Association for Social Science Information Service & Technology (IASSIST)
     Dedicated to the discovery, preservation, and delivery of social science reseach data. Works with other organizations to promote standards for data description. Holds an annual conference. Hosts a blog (IASSIST Communique) dedicated to data topics. Its IQ journal is available online. Provides access to a collection of processing utilities used by data archives.

International Federation of Data Organizations (IFDO)
     IFDO's membership is organization based, composed primarily of national social science data centers in Europe and Canada.

Open Data Foundation
     A loose-knit organization that promotes development of metadata standards and open-source approaches to data access and use.
