Abstract: This file contains a supplement to Summary Tape File (STF) 4, and tabulates data taken from table PB34 from the 1980 census. The supplement lists the names of the place-of-work destinations that are associated with each cell of table PB34. In general, work place locations within standard metropolitan statistical areas (SMSA's) were coded to census tract and block, while work places outside SMSA's were coded to place, minor civil division (MCD's), or county. Places of 2,500 or more population (1,000 or more in Alaska and Hawaii), based on 1977 population estimates, were recognized for place-of-work coding. Selected large incporporated places may also be specified as places of work, but are usually towns, cities, or groups of towns.
