Accessing Taiwan Survey Data and What’s New in SRDA [view poster]
Wen-Hsin Wang, Editor, Survey Research Data Archive, Center for Survey Research, Republic of China, wangwh@gate.sinica.edu.tw.
There are three main parts in this post presentation. First, we would like to provide information about datasets in the Survey Research Data Archive (SRDA) which launched in 1984 in Academia Sinica, Taiwan. For those who are interested in researches on cross-culture or international comparison, SRDA is a good resource to obtain survey data collected in Chinese society. Second, we will report how we apply ready-made tools, especially developed in western countries, to enable our website users to find what they want more accurately and efficiently. What we had encountered during the process of adapting these tools to our original data management and exhibition systems, for example, in setting authority controls, converting database format, oriental codes supportability and English to Chinese translation, etc. Third, we will take this opportunity to show some projects on data security, access classification, data linkage and such that SRDA is developing recently to gather recommendations. This exchange of experiences, ideas, resource materials and discussion can make our work more effective, reduce cost and time.
