CISER Computing User's Manual: How to Log-on

Log-on using Linux

  1. From Terminal type "rdesktop -f" followed by a server name:

    • Most researchers may connect to any of these: 
      rdesktop  -f  rsch101.ciserrsch.cornell.edu
      rdesktop  -f  rsch102.ciserrsch.cornell.edu
      rdesktop  -f  rsch103.ciserrsch.cornell.edu
      rdesktop  -f  rsch104.ciserrsch.cornell.edu
      rdesktop  -f  rsch105.ciserrsch.cornell.edu
      rdesktop  -f  rsch106.ciserrsch.cornell.edu
    • Users of R, Rscript, and ArcGIS should connect either of these: 
      rdesktop  -f  rschG101.ciserrsch.cornell.edu
      rdesktop  -f  rschG102.ciserrsch.cornell.edu
    • Users of Class accounts should connect to either of these: 
      rdesktop  -f  rschCL1.ciserrsch.cornell.edu
      rdesktop  -f  rschCL2.ciserrsch.cornell.edu
      rdesktop  -f  rschCL3.ciserrsch.cornell.edu
      rdesktop  -f  rschCL4.ciserrsch.cornell.edu
    • Users with _CHE accounts should connect to: 
      rdesktop  -f  rsch601.ciserrsch.cornell.edu

  2. Then in the username, prefix your username with "ciserrsch\". For example: ciserrsch\foa2_RS

  3. Then enter your password and hit the submit button (right-arrow)

  4. To minimize the remote desktop window press: CTRL-ALT-ENTER
